FAQQ. What ages are Atherton Lacrosse Camps for?
A. All camps are open to boys and girls ages 5 to 14. Players will be divided based upon age and skill level in order to provide the best instruction possible.
Q. What is the difference between the Beginner and Intermediate divisions, and which group does my child belong in?
A. The Beginner division is for players that are trying lacrosse for the first time (ie, have not played a season yet and do not have their own lacrosse pads). This group will be using softer lacrosse balls, and learning the fundamentals of lacrosse in a non-contact setting. This is the ideal place for a player to get their first introduction to lacrosse!!
Intermediate players need to bring their own lacrosse equipment to camp (see list of required equipment below) and have played 1-3 seasons with a team. In addition to the fundamentals, this group will be covering team concepts, defensive checking rules and techniques, and game concepts with contact allowed by the rules of lacrosse.
Q. Who will be coaching the camps?
A. Our coaches are typically college level players who have a strong background in Lacrosse and like working with children. We work to find coaches who have experience working with children, enjoy it and are really good at it. We have high standards and want all of our campers to learn not only lacrosse but positive life lessons at camp!
Q. What is the ratio of coaches to campers?
A. We strive for a ratio of 8 campers to each coach, often it is less than that.
Q. Do you do Background Checks on your coaches?
A. We take steps to ensure the highest level of safety within our programs. We engage in a comprehensive background screening process for all of our coaches through National Center for Safety Initiatives. This is a part of a national movement towards the standardization of safety programs for youth-serving organizations in this country.
Q. What equipment is required?
A. Beginner levels need stick & mouth guard and can be purchased locally or on-line at Sling It! Lacrosse. We offer a special promotional price of $25 to purchase a boys or girls stick when you register for any of our camps. Intermediate Level Boys require full gear. If you would like to rent full equipment in order to participate in the Intermediate group, it can be rented during registration check out. Learn more about renting equipment HERE.
Q. I ordered a lacrosse stick while registering for camp, when will I receive it?
A. If you took advantage of the promotional discounted stick while registering you will receive it on the first day of camp .
Q. What is the local Club in my area?
A. Northern California Junior Lacrosse Association is a hub of information and lists all the local clubs.
Q. What is your refund policy?
A. Session changes are permitted with 7 days notice. Each cancellation is subject to a $50 processing fee, and there will be no refunds within 3 weeks of a camp/class start date.
